Born and raised in Newark, NJ, Javy XI’s passion for writing music was birthed by his love for reading books and writing spoken word poetry at his middle school poetry club. His passion for writing heightened when close friends started recognizing a God-given ability to string powerful words over instrumentals.
In 2014, with the support of his family, new wife and newly found independent label, Community Music, XI dropped his first mixtape entitled “Seasons Vol. 1”, alongside then label mate Genaro Ortiz.
In 2016, Javy XI dropped his solo project entitled “1967”, which showcased his ability to create thought-provoking music by capturing the realities and effects of Newark, NJ’s 1967 race riots over traditional boom bap elements, unorthodox samples and forward sounding synths.
Today, located in Orlando, FL, Javy XI finds himself picking up where he left off with a fresh perspective seasoned by marriage, moving across the country and new experiences at the intersection of faith and culture. The second half of 2019 had XI gearing up to drop a string of singles kicking off with “GHOST” on July 5th.
Now in 2021 Javy XI continues to push a brand of music that breeds curiosity, authenticity and challenges all of us to dialogue with one another. Remember to think, speak life and grow daily.
